Use this to support your consent application and the engineering calculations you provide all in accordance with the requirements of AS/NZS1170.5. EQCalc uses a simple two-stage process:

An input sheet that enables you to

•         select your site location from the digital elevation model of New Zealand provided with this software
•         enter your subsoil site category
•         the ULS and SLS annual probability of occurrence intervals for your building's occupancy class
•         the fundamental building response period for each orthogonal direction
•         the structural ductility factor assumed for each orthgonal direction

Push the Calculate button and within seconds you will have a clean one-page printable output that provides

•         The base shear coefficient for your specific building on the site you selected and the parameters you have nominated,
•         a set of underpinning values used to derive that base shear
•         values provided for each orthogonal direction and limit state
